Lee Wind believes books hold a special power to strengthen our empathy for each other.

That’s why he co-created the We Are Stronger Than Censorship campaign, an effort to combat book banning, support indie publishers, and ensure diverse voices are heard.

“Books are empathy machines, and discussing the characters and the ideas they hold are a big part of unlocking that magic.”

Books play a valuable role in developing our empathy. Discussion takes the empathy machines to the next level.

AmazeWorks is a proud partner in We Are Stronger Than Censorship. We wrote discussion guides on 20 indie publisher titles whose sales have been impacted by book censorship.

One of the best ways to resist censorship is by reading and meaningfully engaging with books as empathy machines.

Don’t just read the books. Let them linger. Ask questions. Allow the stories to change you.
